Hello! We got messages on the printer saying that the printer won't be able to print soon. Now we are getting an error message saying HP Instant Ink problem cannot print. We have not signed up for Instant Ink and are using genuine HP ink cartridges. How do we get this to go away so we can keep using the printer?

Device: HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

Hi @mads170425

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand how concerning this must be, especially since you're using genuine HP ink cartridges and have never enrolled in the HP Instant Ink service. I'll be happy to help you determine why your printer is displaying the "HP Instant Ink problem cannot print" message and guide you through the appropriate troubleshooting steps to restore printing.

To help identify the cause, could you please share:

  • Please share the exact error message or a photo of the printer display.
  • Whether this printer was purchased new or pre-owned.
  • Have you ever had an HP Instant Ink subscription associated with this printer, even if it has since been canceled?

This information will help me determine whether the issue is related to the printer's enrollment status, the installed cartridges, or another printer configuration.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
