Hi @Kisiine,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP printer and cartridges. Cartridge communication errors can occur for a variety of reasons, ranging from simple connectivity problems to more complex issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed in the correct slots. Make sure they are securely seated and properly snapped into place.
  • Clean Contacts: Cartridge and printer contacts can accumulate dust or debris over time, leading to poor communication. Gently wipe the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute or two, and then plug it back in. Power the printer on and see if the error persists.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the printer's firmware might resolve compatibility issues.
  • Reset Printer: Some printers have a reset option in the settings menu. Performing a reset might clear any temporary glitches causing the communication error.
  • Try Different Cartridges: If possible, try using a different set of cartridges. Sometimes, cartridges might be faulty or incompatible.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date on your computer. Sometimes, outdated drivers can lead to communication errors.
  • Inspect for Physical Damage: Examine the cartridges for any visible damage. A damaged cartridge might not communicate properly with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
