my HP 3630 has a flashing orange light and the HP app reports 'The indicated cartridge is not communicating correctly with the printer.'

I have removed and reseated the cartridge and turned the printer off and on.  Still no resolution.  The cartridge is a genuine HP cartridge supplied by the HP Instant Ink scheme

Welcome to the HP Support Community

 

I understand you are facing an ink-related issue with your  HP DeskJet 3630 All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

To assist better: 

  • Which ink cartridge is the printer indicating?
  • Does the orange light stop flashing if you remove the ink cartridge?

While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

Thanks for your reply.

 

It's the colour cartridge, and the orange light continues to flash without the cartridge present.

I've followed all the steps you and the link suggests and unfortunately it hasn't fixed the problem.

I have had the same issue, I have about 10 hours of phone time with HP, they sent me new ink cartridges. This fixed it until the ink ran out, I install the ink cartridge that we got and all the same issue came back, no printer, off line, not communicating with instant ink.. I bought a HP cartridge off Amazon and this fixed it all. I am done with instant ink. and HP support. Now i am going to get my router fixed after the HP support staff messed with the router setting and now my wi fi is off.
