Good morning:

EU Professional Instant Ink Accounts – Working in Two Different Countries: Issues

on Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.1

  • 1- I live between Italy and Spain, and I am forced to have two accounts.
    a) It is impossible to have two Instant Ink users in Apple Keychain.
    b) Definitely switching user, the Instant Ink website explodes in glitches and bugs on Safari, forcing to empty the cache and history to become usable; every single time.
This doesn't happens until I move from one country to another, -on weekly basis since I am a professor-.
  • 2- Can I move my printer from Italy to Spain and add it to Instant Ink Spain?
  • 3- If not possible, can I add a used HP printer in Spain to my Instant Ink Spain?

I won’t delve deeply into HP’s customer service quality, which I have found extremely distressing and dysfunctional. It is entirely decentralized and utterly uninformed about technical issues and product specifications, making it nearly impossible for a professional or technically informed company to make sound decisions about consumer products. If I ever find a viable alternative to HP’s offerings, I will switch without hesitation.

For now, I will wait to see if this incompatibility with EU professionals is resolved. I am willing to share screen recordings with HP if anyone from HP ESPANA takes these issues seriously.

I also visited Sant Cugat del Vallès for research on HP 3D industrial printers, and I still cannot understand why such a reputable company treats its customer care—which is used by both consumers and professionals—with such disregard in 2025.

Kind regards,

S.

Hi @EUProfessional

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it must be to manage two separate Instant Ink accounts while frequently traveling between Italy and Spain for your academic work. Let me clarify your options and provide solutions to help streamline your experience.

1. Instant Ink Accounts in Multiple Countries

Currently, HP Instant Ink accounts are region-specific, meaning you cannot use the same account across different countries. Since Instant Ink is linked to the country where it was originally set up, this is why you are required to maintain two separate accounts for Italy and Spain.

  • Keychain Login Issue: Apple Keychain does not support multiple logins for the same website, which can cause conflicts when switching between accounts. One workaround is to manually store one of the logins in a password manager instead.
  • Safari Glitches on the Instant Ink Website: If Safari consistently runs into issues when switching accounts, you might try using a different browser (such as Chrome or Firefox) when accessing Instant Ink to avoid clearing cache and history frequently.

2. Moving Your Printer from Italy to Spain

Unfortunately, you cannot transfer your existing Instant Ink subscription from one country to another. Each Instant Ink plan is tied to the region where the printer was first enrolled. If you bring your Italian printer to Spain, it will remain enrolled under Instant Ink Italy, and ink shipments will still be sent to your Italian address.

If you want to use Instant Ink Spain, the only way is to cancel the Italian Instant Ink account, factory reset the printer, and re-enroll it under a new Spanish Instant Ink account. However, this may result in losing any unused pages or benefits from your Italian account.

3. Using a Second Printer in Spain

Yes, you can add a used HP printer in Spain to your Spanish Instant Ink account, as long as the printer is eligible for Instant Ink. If it was previously enrolled in Instant Ink by another user, it would need to be removed from their account before you can register it.

I truly appreciate your feedback regarding HP’s customer service, and I understand that professionals need a seamless and efficient Instant Ink experience. If HP's Instant Ink policies evolve to better accommodate users who work across borders, I will be happy to update you.

For now, if you need help resetting your printer for Spain or checking printer compatibility for Instant Ink Spain, I’m happy to assist. Let me know how you’d like to proceed. 😊

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
