Just installed a new color cartridge from instant ink in HP ENVY Inspire 7255. Didn't work with printer saying incompatible cartridges; The indicated cartridge is not intended for use in this printer as currently configured. I am enrolled in instant ink program. the color cartridge is an instant ink cartridge with the proper numbers. we just bought the printer approx 2 months ago and are enrolled in the instant ink program offered free for 6 months. The black replacement cartridge we received in mail at the same time worked fine when installed. The only difference i can see is the replacement color cartridge is larger than previous one installed when bought. Any ideas on how to solve this dilemma?

The Instant Ink cartridges for the Envy 7255 are larger than standard cartridges. It sounds like you got a defective cartridge. I would suggest cleaning the cartridge and printer's electrical contacts as shown in Type 1, Step 3 of the document here.
If that does not resolve the issue the document here has information on contacting HP to get replacement Instant Ink cartridges. Go to the HP Instant Ink site, the phone number (or chat option for some countries) will be listed in the lower center of the opening screen. Alternately, you can click on the Virtual Assistant. When the assistant opens type "Where is my ink?" (w/o the quotes). The system will ask a few questions and then schedule your shipment.

As you said in your post, support feels it is a defective cartridge. The printer is new but I tried cleaning the contacts on both the cartridge and printer to no avail. They are sending a replacement. Thanks for the helpful response.
