Thanks a lot! I actually managed to resolve it myself in the meantime by following some i structions from another user on Facebook. I had to disconnect the printer from the regular Wifi network, then connect to my iPhone as a hotspot, log in to the instant ink account again and refresh. I have no idea why or how but it has worked. Reconnected to the house wifi again and it still seems fine.

Hi JS90210, could you let me know the link of that facebook post?  I am having the exact same issue (factory default fixed broken Smart Task, but broke the Instant Ink).  I only have Android, and hope that method still works.  I chatted with the HP support today, and the issue was not resolved.  They asked me to wait for the welcome kits and use the new ink cartridges and try again.  It did not sound promising though based on the posts in this thread.  Thanks.

I am also having the same issue. I tried the iphone hotspot idea and tried to get it working, the site says the printer is ready and the email address shows correctly, but it simply won't re-enable instaink on the printer so it's a useless box still. I can not get anyone from HP to actually talk to me on the support line because my 9010 is out of warranty. I have spent too much time trying to fix and I am done with HP unless someone can help me with more specific instructions please.

Facebook link would be helpful? HP Docs is not helpful nor is the virtual assistant.

The Instant Ink support solved my issue by cancelling the service and then re-enabling it (just like some other posts said.  It had nothing to do with waiting for the welcome kits).  You could ask the support to do it for you.  And probably you can do it yourself too.  After the service is cancelled, Instant Ink will send you an email and/or message saying you can re-enable it within the end of billing cycle to continue with what is left (like nothing ever has happened). Then you just re-subscribe the service.

Thanks. I guess I have to wait until Jan 9th to get my printer working again. That stinks. I need to figure out how to get in touch an actual person within HP Support. Bummed out.

That's why I suggested you do it yourself.  Or you can chat with regular HP support and they can transfer the chat to instant ink support or give you a telephone number to call.

I solved the issue. No need for iphone or Android hotspot either. Simply cancel your InstaInk membership and then re-enroll. I tried that vs waiting for the rest of my subscription to expire because I had nothing to lose. Turns out, re-enrolling will not only fix the issue, but will also sustain any rollover pages you may have accumulated. The only other requirement is that after you perform a factory reset, you will need to setup webservices again. Once you do that and you new webservice email is setup, you should be good to cancel and re-enroll to get the instaink connection working again. Good luck!

My Solution.

1. Factory Reset Printer.

2. Enable Web Services via the local printer Web Page like 192.168.0.189

3. Logged on HPConnected and reset ePrint Email address for Printer if changed.

3. Logged onto HP Instant Ink and cancelled current subscription.

4. Wait for your Printer to receive message that Instant Ink was cancelled.

5. Go back to HP Instant Ink and click KEEP SUBSCRIPTION in upper right corner.

6 .Subscription should be there and Printer should be connected.
