I wanted to connect my new HP Printer (HP Envy 6532e All-in-One Printer) with my new Instant Ink Account. When I go through the process I always get the Failure Code: Fehlercode: OW_4XX_OWSWS00001

I don't understand why.

Hi @Ullover76,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re getting the error OW_4XX_OWSWS00001 when trying to connect your new HP Envy 6532e printer to Instant Ink. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Confirm the printer is fully connected to the internet
Make sure the printer shows a stable Wi-Fi connection (solid blue light or connected status).
Temporary or limited connectivity can cause enrollment validation to fail.

Restart the printer and network
Turn off the printer and unplug the router for 1–2 minutes.
Power the router on first, wait until it is fully online, then turn the printer back on.

Check date and time on the printer
If available in the printer menu, confirm the date and time are correct.
Incorrect time settings can prevent secure communication with HP services.

Ensure Web Services are enabled
From the printer control panel, enable Web Services or HP+ / ePrint if prompted.
Allow the printer to complete initialization before retrying Instant Ink enrollment.

Sign out and back into your HP account
Open the HP Smart app and sign out of your HP account.
Sign back in, select the printer, and retry the Instant Ink setup.

Verify the HP Smart app is up to date
Check the app store on your device and install any available updates for HP Smart.
Older app versions may fail during printer-to-cloud validation.

Reset the printer’s network settings
Restore network defaults from the printer menu (Wi-Fi reset only).
Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi and wait until it shows as online before enrolling again.

Avoid VPNs, ad blockers, or restricted networks
Make sure your phone or computer is not using a VPN, Private DNS, or corporate network.
These can block the secure web services needed for Instant Ink activation.

Retry enrollment after a short wait
Wait about 10–15 minutes after reconnecting the printer to Wi-Fi.
Then retry adding Instant Ink to allow background services to sync.

I hope this helps.
