I recently signed up for Instant Ink via subscription. I'm getting messages to change cartridges when there is no indication that the ink supply is low. Also, I have a Black 3JB27A HP Instant Ink 67/305 cartridge and a Tri-color 3JB26A HP Instant Ink 67/305 cartridge that have not been used. I planned to install them when the printer tells me to. Should I do it now?  I have an HP Envy 6400 printer.

@GPKen, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Instant Ink with HP Printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When you subscribe to HP's Instant Ink service, the program monitors your ink usage and sends replacement cartridges before you run out. If you're receiving messages to change cartridges but don't see low ink levels, there are a few things to consider:

Ink Alerts and Cartridge Replacement Notifications: Sometimes, HP printers provide alerts to replace cartridges even when they are not yet fully depleted. These alerts are designed to avoid a situation where you are unable to print due to lack of ink.

Use Cartridges When Advised: Generally, it's best to follow the printer's prompts for when to replace the cartridges. Since you're part of the Instant Ink program, your printer might be optimizing for this service, ensuring that you never run out of ink unexpectedly.

Stored Cartridges: You have the Black 3JB27A and Tri-color 3JB26A cartridges, and you planned to install them once prompted. If your printer hasn’t suggested replacing them yet, and you’re not experiencing any print quality issues, you can hold off on replacing them. However, if the printer prompts replacement or you notice a decline in print quality, it would be ideal to go ahead and install them.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
