Hello-

I recently took over a position at a company and our printer's Serial # is already linked to the old employee's email (which I don't have access to).

How do I switch the serial number to my HP account?

Thanks

Hi @VR151,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To switch the printer's serial number to your HP account, you'll need to unlink it from the old employee's account and then link it to your own. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:

Access HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Support website: HP Customer Support.

Remove the Printer from the Old Account:

  • HP Support can help you remove the printer from the old account. This step might involve verifying your ownership of the printer, so be prepared to provide any necessary documentation.

Create or Log in to Your HP Account:

  • If you don't already have an HP account, create one on the HP website: HP Account Creation.
  • If you already have an HP account, log in: HP Account Login.

Add the Printer to Your HP Account:

  • Once the printer is unlinked from the old account, you can add it to your own.
  • Go to the HP Connected website: HP Connected.
  • Log in with your HP account credentials.
  • Navigate to the "Devices" or "Printers" section and select "Add a printer."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the printer's serial number and complete the linking process.

Update Printer Settings:

  • After successfully adding the printer to your account, make sure to update any necessary settings, such as preferred email addresses for scanning or printing services.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
