I am advised that  my print subscription needs renewing.  I do not want to renew at the present time (owing to problems) but I have quite a few ink cartridges to use.  I use the printer very little.

Why can't I print of my HP Envy 5030.  The machine belongs to me!

@Jonno1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Instant Ink Subscription and Printer Usage Without Renewal!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When you subscribe to HP Instant Ink, the program sends you ink cartridges that are specifically coded to work only as long as the subscription is active. If your subscription is not renewed or is cancelled, the Instant Ink cartridges will no longer function, even if you have some remaining ink in them.

If You Wish to Continue Using Your Printer Without Subscribing to Instant Ink:

Replace Instant Ink Cartridges with Regular Cartridges: To continue using your HP ENVY 5030 printer without renewing the Instant Ink subscription, you will need to remove the Instant Ink cartridges and install standard HP ink cartridges purchased from a retailer.

Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the new cartridges you purchase are compatible with the HP ENVY 5030. Typically, this model uses HP 304 or HP 304XL cartridges.

Steps to Replace Cartridges:

  1. Turn On the Printer: Ensure your printer is powered on.
  2. Open the Ink Cartridge Access Door: Gently open the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.
  3. Remove Old Cartridges: Wait until the carriage is idle and silent. Push the old cartridge down to release it and then pull it out of its slot.
  4. Install New Cartridges:
    • Take the new cartridge out of its packaging.
    • Remove the plastic tape without touching the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles.
    • Insert the new cartridge into the correct slot, making sure it clicks into place.
  5. Align the Cartridges: Follow the prompts on the printer's control panel to align the new cartridges, ensuring optimal print quality.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
