Hi @Robin957,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY Pro 6400 printer is displaying an error code '0E' despite having new and correct ink cartridges (305), you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. This simple step can sometimes resolve temporary issues.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the official HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available. Firmware updates can address compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
  • Inspect Cartridge Installation: Make sure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. Open the printer cover, remove the cartridges, and then reinsert them securely. Ensure that each cartridge is placed in the correct slot.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: If the cartridge contacts are dirty, it can cause communication issues. Gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the corresponding slot in the printer. Use a lint-free cloth and be cautious not to touch the nozzles.
  • Replace Cartridges: Even if the cartridges are new, there could be a defect or issue with a specific cartridge. Try replacing one or more cartridges to see if the problem persists.
  • Perform a Printer Reset: Reset the printer to its default settings. Consult your printer manual for instructions on how to perform a reset on your specific model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
