HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer

A family member gave me an HP Envy 5660 printer.  She was using the instant ink program but I am not.  I am now getting a message:  Cannot print.  Connect printer to update HP instant ink status. However, when I touch connect, I receive a message Network required. To use this feature, the printer must be connected to the network.

Hi @Martha881,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP Envy 5660 printer is prompting you to connect to the network to update the HP Instant Ink status. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer or device.
  • Verify that the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection on the printer is active and properly configured.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This simple step can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

Restart Your Router:

  • If the printer and your device are on the same network, but you still encounter issues, try restarting your router. This can help refresh the network connection.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Envy 5660 printer. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download and install any available firmware updates.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the existing printer software on your computer and reinstall it. This can help ensure that the software is properly configured and up to date.

Check Instant Ink Settings:

  • If you are no longer using the HP Instant Ink program, make sure the printer settings on both the printer and your computer reflect this. You may need to disable or remove the Instant Ink settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
