Hi @IvanBaker,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've tried the standard troubleshooting steps recommended by HP and you're still experiencing issues with the color cartridge not communicating properly with your HP Envy Photo 7855 printer, there are a few additional steps you can try.

  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridge or inside the printer can get dirty, preventing proper communication. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently wipe the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer. Make sure they are completely dry before reinstalling the cartridge.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the back, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug the power cord back in and turn the printer back on. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal settings and resolve communication issues.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix bugs or compatibility issues that may be causing the problem.
  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the cartridge and the cartridge slot in the printer for any signs of physical damage. If you see any damage, it's possible that either the cartridge or the printer may need to be replaced.
  • Try Another Cartridge: If possible, try using a different color cartridge (even if it's not new) to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the cartridge itself or with the printer.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the communication issue with your color cartridge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
