Dear HP Support Team,

I am contacting you regarding an issue with my HP Inkjet 2900 series printer.

I recently purchased this printer, but I have since discovered that it is configured for a different region (non-European). As a result, it requires ink cartridges (HP 308) that are not available locally here in Germany.

In my region, only HP 305 cartridges are available. Although these cartridges physically fit into the printer, they are not recognized due to regional configuration differences.

Importing the correct cartridges from another region is not a practical solution, as it involves significant additional costs, import fees, and long delivery times. This makes it very difficult for me to use the printer for my work.

I understand that HP can perform a region reset to allow the printer to accept locally available cartridges. I would like to request your assistance in performing this region reset so that my printer can work with HP 305 cartridges in Germany. I am a student, I am too broke to buy another printer.

Please let me know the necessary steps to proceed. I am happy to provide any required information, such as the printer serial number, proof of purchase, or current cartridge details.

I notified the moderator of the problem.

Changing the region code can be difficult as described here.

When an agent contacts you ensure that the agent is familiar with the OS you are using. If the agent is in a different time zone try to get one in your time zone. If that is not possible you may need to choose the best time to make a contact.

You may need WhatsApp to work through the region reset procedure.

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. The cartridges must be genuine HP.
5. Make sure HP Smart App is installed.
6. If the printer is not under warranty, then the ink cartridges need to be in the warranty period.

To perform a printer region reset, you need to meet the following conditions:


1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally, or the new region/country to which you want to reset it.

4. Make sure the HP Smart App is installed too.
