Hi,

I got a hp2624 printer from my brother. It had full cartridges of both color and blank ink (Instant Ink). I tried to register in Instant Ink program and now my 'This cartridge can only be used in a printer that is currently enrolled in HP Instant Ink'. I tried going to the instant ink registration page, but I'm unable to print the code because now the printer ink status shows empty. How do I retrieve the code. I do not have ePrint button, I tried the web services option but it eventually ends in orinting page, which eventually ends in printing page which doesnt happen. How to get the code alternatively

@samsonfrancis, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Without ink, you cannot get claim code. Get at least one new ink from the local store to be able to print.

Deskjet 2600 printers do not have an ePrint button. Find out if your printer is connected to a wireless network by pressing the Information button  to print a page titled “Printer Information Page". This page shows the status of the wireless network connection. Follow the instructions that correspond to your printer's network status:

  • The printer is already connected to a wireless network:

    1. Press the Information button  and the Cancel button  at the same time to print instructions.

    2. If the printed page does not contain an ePrint address and printer claim code, follow the instructions on the printed page to enable Web Services. After you enable Web Services, a page titled "Congratulations" prints with the ePrint address and printer claim code.

  • The printer is not connected to a wireless network:

    1. Press and hold the Wireless button  for 3 seconds to print the Wireless Quick Start Guide.

    2. Follow instructions in the guide to connect the printer to your wireless network.
    3. Press the Information button  and the Cancel button  at the same time to print instructions. If the printed page does not contain an ePrint address and printer claim code, follow the instructions on the printed page to enable Web Services. After you enable Web Services, a page titled "Congratulations" prints with the ePrint address and printer claim code.

If the "Congratulations" page has only an ePrint address (no printer claim code), the printer was previously claimed to another HP Smart account (formerly HP Connected). Print the printer information sheet by pressing the Information button , and locate the printer IP address on the printed page. Enter the printer IP address in a web browser and navigate to the "Web Services" section of the web page. Remove and then re-enable web services. A page titled “Congratulations” prints with your printer claim code.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

The problem is I have the Instant Ink full cartridge's still. The virtual assitant asked me to reset printer and it will accept without claim code, but how do I reset my printer. Also, 2nd second question is , if I have to buy ink, will it work with just black ink or should i purchase both ink now

Thanks for replying!

Assign manual IP to the printer-

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Print the printer information sheet by pressing the Information button , and locate the printer IP address on the printed page. Enter the printer IP address in a web browser and navigate to the "Web Services" section of the web page. Remove and then re-enable web services.

Now, try 🙂
