HP Smart cannot connect to printer for instant ink verification

If HP Smart cannot connect to your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer for Instant Ink verification, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

 

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Internet Connection:

  • Ensure that both your printer and computer are connected to a stable and working Wi-Fi network.
  • Test the internet connection by accessing websites or other online services.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer or mobile device as well.

Verify Printer Connection:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Settings and check the connection status.
  • Ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Ensure that the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device is updated to the latest version.
  • Check for updates in the app store on your device.

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • Uninstall and then reinstall the HP Smart app.
    • On Windows: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find HP Smart, uninstall it, and then download and reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.
    • On mobile devices: Uninstall the app from your app store, then reinstall it from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Please find the next set of steps below.

 

Check Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date.
  • You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

Verify Instant Ink Enrollment:

  • Log in to your HP Instant Ink account and check if your printer is enrolled in the program.
  • If there are any issues or missing information, update your account details.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look for any error messages on the printer’s control panel or in the HP Smart app that might indicate the nature of the connection problem.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • As a last resort, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer. This will remove all settings and configurations.
  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.

Manual Setup for Instant Ink:

  • If HP Smart continues to have issues, you might need to manually enter your Instant Ink information.
  • Go to the HP Instant Ink website and follow the instructions for manual setup or verification.
