HP Smart tells me to check my account. I've tried checking on the website and the app and nowhere does it say what is wrong with my account. It has locked me out of using my printer. I don't have instant ink or any subscriptions so I have no idea why.

Hi @CMSchweiger

That is an incredibly frustrating situation, especially since you don't have any subscriptions and can't find the source of the error.

But here’s what you can try:

  1. Sign Out and Sign Back In:
    • Try signing out of your HP account on both the HP Smart website and the app. Then, sign back in to see if that resolves the issue.
  2. Reset Password:
    • Sometimes password issues or account verification problems can cause these notifications. Try resetting your HP account password and logging back in with the new password.
  3. Check Email for Notifications:
    • Verify your email for any messages from HP regarding your account status or actions needed. Sometimes important notifications are sent via email.
  4. Clear Cache and Cookies:
    • Clear your browser’s cache and cookies if you’re accessing your account through a browser. This can sometimes resolve login-related issues.
  5. Try a Different Device:
    • Access your HP account from a different device or browser to see if the problem persists. This helps identify if it’s device-specific.
  6. Update HP Smart App to the HP App:
    • Ensure that you’re using the latest version of the HP App (The HP app replaces earlier HP apps like HP Smart). Outdated versions might have bugs that are resolved in updates.
  7. Factory Reset the Printer(LAST RESORT):
    • If the issue is still unresolved and it's blocking printer services, consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Make sure to back up any settings or preferences beforehand.
    • NOTE: Performing a factory reset will change all pre-saved settings and customisation on the printer as well as the wireless and wired setup of the printer.
