I couldn't get my printer to work from my phone.  I unplugged it and reset it.  When the page printed, it said I was locked out from using it due to being 3 months behind in paying for my ink subscription.  WHaaaaaat?!?!

Are you fing serious.  I have never used anything other than HP printers.  I am so upset.

I need to buy a new printer now just so I have something to use.  I bought this printer 9 or so months ago.  It came with 6 months free ink.  I barely used any.  I think they sent very small replacement cartridges once.  Maybe twice.  I have been traveling recently.  The first time in maybe 4 months I need to print something and I can't!  I had no idea there's any continuing subscription on the ink!  I never signed up for that. They need to fix this.  If I can't use it when I need to it's going in the garbage.  And I will NOT BE REPLACING IT WITH. ANYTHING BY HP!!!!!

You must have accidently signed up for the ink subscription,  It can be canceled at any time**.

I do not have an instant ink printer. My understanding is that if you run out of ink, or you cancel your subscription, you can use genuine Hewlett Packard cartridges either original or refilled. They must have an HP chip in the cartridge.
The below type is unlikely to work.

Note that this is a user to user forum and I am just the messenger of this bad news: Any of your Instant ink cartridges can only be used when the ink subscription is active.

you mentioned travel.  Ink bought in some countries will not work unless you do the region change procedure.

HP is not the only OEM that requires their ink to be used.

**While HP Instant Ink printers can be used with no subscription, select HP Plus printers may require a subscription to operate.  If you bought a printer that requires a subscription then return it if still in warranty.

Hi there!  Thank you for responding.  I have 2 other hp printers and have always bought original hp ink for them.  1 is at my home in Florida.  I bought this new one because it said 6 months free ink.  I assumed everything just expired after 6 months.  They find a way to get you coming or going.  I hardly ever use it so they didn't give me much for free.  Now when I need I can't even make a copy on it.  I'm just really angry about this.  Can't help feeling this way.
