Microsoft Windows 11

I will need more Instant Ink Cartridges for upcoming large project. How to order more, as only Instant Ink ones with the ID chip will work in this 9120e Series printer. My current plan is for 300 pages, but I cannot run out of Ink Cartridges during this project. What is the solution. I know that I would have to quit the Instant Ink plan, buy normal cartridges, and not use the ones I have. Help!!!

Hi @Jake701,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for reaching out. You do not need to cancel Instant Ink or switch to regular cartridges just because you have a large project coming up. Your 300-page plan can accommodate higher printing volumes.

Instant Ink works based on the number of pages you print, not the number of cartridges you receive. If you have unused pages from previous months, those can roll over and be used during your project.

Also, you don't normally need to manually order cartridges in advance. As long as the printer remains connected to the internet, HP monitors the ink level and automatically ships replacement Instant Ink cartridges when they are needed.

If you expect to print substantially more than 300 pages, I recommend checking your Instant Ink account for your available rollover pages and considering an upgrade to a higher monthly plan. You can change your plan at any time, and an upgrade can be made effective immediately or at the next billing cycle, depending on the option you select.

You can manage your plan, check your page balance and rollover pages, and view shipments through your HP Instant Ink – Ink Monthly Subscription | HP Official Site

Most importantly, I would not cancel Instant Ink or discard the cartridges you currently have. If you tell us approximately how many pages you expect to print for this project and how many rollover pages you currently have, we can help you determine whether your 300-page plan should be sufficient or whether moving to a higher plan would be the better option.

If you need assistance with the upcoming large print project or an ink shipment, please let us know. We can also check the Instant Ink account details and see what additional help may be available.

Please share your registered email address or Instant Ink ID with us via private message so we can locate the account and review the available options for you.

Take care and have an amazing day!
