HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer

I need a new color ink cartridge from my Instant Ink subscription. The last one they sent me a few years ago didn't work and I've only been able to print in black and white for years because I don't know how to get them to send me a new cartridge. In case you're wondering, I threw out the defective color cartridge long ago. I've been paying for this subscription every month for years but not getting the color ink cartridges!

To resolve the issue with your HP Instant Ink subscription and get a new color ink cartridge for your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer, follow these steps.

 

Check Subscription Status

Log in to your HP Instant Ink account to check if your subscription is still active and whether it covers color ink cartridges:

  • Go to HP Instant Ink.
  • Log in with the email and password associated with your account.
  • Review your subscription details, such as how much ink is remaining and whether you are on a color plan.

Disable Black & White Printing Only (Optional)

If your printer has defaulted to printing in black and white due to the lack of a color cartridge, make sure that once you receive the new cartridge, your printer settings allow color printing:

  • On your computer, open the Control Panel or Printer Settings.
  • Select your HP ENVY 7640 printer.
  • Go to Printing Preferences and ensure that Color Printing is enabled.

Restart Your Subscription (if necessary)

If your Instant Ink subscription has somehow been paused or downgraded to black and white only, you might need to restart or modify it to ensure color cartridges are part of the plan.
