Have a printer that was purchased used, but it is linked to the previous owner's Instant Ink account. I would like to add it to my Instant Ink account, but I have received an error stating that it is already registered to another account. Please advise if this is possible. Thank you.

Hi @jjjjkjjkmkbkjbk,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To remove a printer from the previous owner’s HP Instant Ink account and add it to your own, you’ll need to follow these steps.

Factory Reset the Printer: Sometimes, performing a factory reset on the printer can help in removing previous account associations. To reset your HP DeskJet Plus 4155e:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • On the control panel, navigate to the Setup menu (usually represented by a wrench icon).
  • Go to the Printer Maintenance or Tools section.
  • Select "Restore Factory Defaults" or a similar option.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the reset.

Add the Printer to Your Instant Ink Account: Once the printer has been removed from the previous account, you can add it to your own HP Instant Ink account:

  • Sign in to your HP Instant Ink account.
  • Go to the "Printers" section and select "Add a Printer."
  • Follow the prompts to connect your printer to your account.

Re-register Your Printer: If needed, you may need to reinstall the printer's software or reconnect it to your network after the reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

This printer does not have a touch screen like most current printers, it has a very small LCD status screen and there is no visible way to do what you described in your reply.

You can use the HP Smart app on your phone or PC to do the above.
