Hi @Coopergaisford,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to resolve the issue of your printer being linked to your old HP Smart account, you need to remove it from the old account and register it with your new account. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Check HP Instant Ink Enrollment Status

  1. Log in to your new HP account where you paid for Instant Ink.
  2. Go to HP Instant Ink and verify that your printer is listed under your account.
    • If it’s not listed, the printer is still linked to the old account.

Step 2: Cancel the Old HP Instant Ink Plan

Since you can’t log in to your old account, contact HP Support directly:

  1. Go to HP Customer Support.
  2. Select Contact HP and explain that you need to unlink the printer from your old account but cannot access it.
  3. Provide proof of ownership (like purchase details) if required.

Step 3: Perform a Factory Reset on the Printer

Resetting the printer will remove it from the old account and let you set it up with the new one:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Reset the printer:
    • Press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons (or the Resume button, depending on the model) while powering it on.
    • Continue holding the buttons until the printer starts flashing or restarts.
  3. After the reset, the printer will return to factory settings.

Step 4: Reconnect the Printer to WiFi

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Select Set Up a New Printer and follow the prompts to connect the printer to your WiFi network.

Step 5: Re-enroll the Printer to Your New Instant Ink Account

  1. In the HP Smart app, log in with your new HP account.
  2. Add the printer using the printer code (found on the printer screen or printed from the settings menu).
  3. Complete the setup and confirm the Instant Ink plan is activated for the printer.
