I recently bought a second hand printer but the previous owner is still enrolled on instant ink. I do not know who the previous owner was to contact them. I have spoken to HP support who have told me I cannot use it without the previous owners details, surely this cannot be the case? Has anyone else managed to solve this problem?

Hi @Angeldust6000,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To remove your HP DeskJet 2710e from the previous owner’s account and enroll it in your own HP Instant Ink account, follow these steps.
Reset the Printer:
- Power on the printer.
- Press and hold the Cancel button and the Wireless button simultaneously for about 5 seconds. This should reset the printer's network settings.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- After resetting, you need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Network.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi.
Remove from HP Account:
- Visit the HP Smart App or the HP Instant Ink website.
- Sign in with your HP account or create a new account if you don’t have one.
- Look for the option to add a new printer, and add your DeskJet 2710e.
- The app may guide you through unlinking the printer from the previous owner’s account.
Enroll in Instant Ink:
- Once the printer is added to your account, you can enroll in the Instant Ink program by following the prompts in the HP Smart app or on the Instant Ink website.
Factory Reset (if needed):
- If the above steps do not work, consider performing a factory reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the Power button. While holding the Power button, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for 15 seconds, then plug the power cord back in while still holding the Power button. Keep holding until the printer powers on completely.
After completing these steps, you should be able to use your printer with your own HP Instant Ink account.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
