HP Instant Ink was great until it was not.  They shipped damaged cartridges and will only ship replacements in 6-10 days.  If I wanted to buy cartridges at Staples, I would not have registered for Instant Ink.  Not so Instant. Now the printer won't work unless I buy all new, since you cannot use store bought with Instant cartridges.

Explain the situation, including the damaged cartridges and the delay in replacements. Ask if there’s an option for a quick resolution, such as a manual override or alternative cartridge options.

Second set of new instantink cartridges arrived (late) to replace the set i got 10 days ago.  The old set was not recognized as hp Ink, then several reboots of the printer later all but yellow is recognized and the 10 days ago yellow does not work and the brand new today magenta and cyan and black are showing as used cartridges and new yellow still is not recognized as even being in the printer.  All cartridges received from hp instantink have worn labels on the spine.  Im sure I will wait another 10 days for another set of cartridges that will not work.
