HP DeskJet 2720e All-in-One Printer

Hi I do NOT want Instant Ink but cannot seem to complete the Set up in HP Smart without doing this. I have error messages which must relate to my purchased HP 305 ink cartridges, but no table to compare display messages to. Can we use non-Instant Ink cartridges in these devices or is it compulsory to use Instant Ink? The instructions are unclear but imply you can use normal cartridges, they just don't tell you how to do it!

Hi @LouFrankie,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Is this your first time setting up the printer?

Or was this printer enrolled in the instant ink program?

If you do not want to use HP Instant Ink but are encountering issues completing the printer startup process because it prompts you to sign up for Instant Ink, here's what you can do to bypass it:

Skip Initial Setup

When you set up your HP printer for the first time, it usually goes through a series of setup steps, including connecting to a network and registering for services like Instant Ink. During this setup process, you might be prompted to sign up for Instant Ink. Look for an option to "skip" or "bypass" this step during the initial setup. The wording may vary depending on your printer model, but it should allow you to proceed without signing up.

Decline or Skip Instant Ink during Registration

If you're required to create an HP account or register your printer during the setup process, be sure to check for an option to decline or skip the Instant Ink offer. This should allow you to continue setting up your printer without enrolling in the service.

If none of the above options work, it's a good idea to contact HP customer support for assistance. They can provide guidance specific to your printer model and help you bypass the Instant Ink setup if necessary, via remote assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
