HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 'problem with the supply system' showing which seems to be a faulty new cyan cartridge that is not registering properly. How do I resolve this? Firmware is up to date and I have restarted the printer and reseated the cartridge several times.

Hi @cjm0rris,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the supply system' error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, particularly with the cyan cartridge, follow these steps:

1. Check for Cartridge Compatibility

Ensure that the cyan cartridge is compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer. The compatible cartridges for this model are typically the HP 962 series.

2. Inspect the Cartridge

  • Check for damage: Inspect the cyan cartridge for any physical damage or leaks.
  • Protective tape: Ensure all protective tapes or covers have been removed from the cartridge.

3. Clean the Contacts

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the cyan cartridge.
  • Clean the gold contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of distilled water or rubbing alcohol. Allow it to dry completely.
  • Clean the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge connects.

4. Reinsert the Cartridge

  • Carefully reinsert the cyan cartridge into the printer.
  • Ensure it clicks into place properly.

5. Reset the Printer

  • Power on the printer and allow it to initialize.
  • Check if the error message still appears.

6. Check Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. You mentioned it is, but it’s good to double-check.
  • Download and install the latest firmware from the HP Support website.

7. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and power it on.

8. Try Another Cartridge

If you have another cyan cartridge available:

  • Replace the current cartridge with a different one to determine if the issue is with the cartridge or the printer itself.

Refer to this document:  HP Printers - An 'Ink System Failure' or 'System Supply Problem' Error Displays

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
