Microsoft Windows 11

I have the HP 7740, replaced all cartridges and a system error appears. Sometime indicate all cartridges are depleted, or one only. I tried to shutoff the printer, replaced cartridges, but the error still there. Can you help me to solve the problem?

Hi @Janser,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I can offer some general troubleshooting steps that might help resolve the issue with your HP 7740 printer.

  1. Check Cartridge Installation:

    • Ensure that all cartridges are securely and correctly installed. Make sure they click into place.
  2. Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

    • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
    • Remove the cartridges.
    • Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer.
    • Reinstall the cartridges.
  3. Update Firmware:

    • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve software-related issues.
  4. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer.
    • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
    • Wait for a couple of minutes.
    • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
  5. Check for Software Issues:

    • Make sure that your printer software on your computer is up to date.
    • Try printing a test page from your computer to see if the issue persists.
  6. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Turn off the printer.
    • Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
    • Disconnect the other end of the power cord from the power source.
    • Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
    • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and to the power source.
    • Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
