Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Instant Ink. Check out this link: HP INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER. .

I understand how the Instant Ink program works, but I didn't realize there was no option without it. We hardly ever print, but now and then, things come up where we need to print a whole lot. There's no way of knowing when or how much. What happens if the ink runs out when I need to print a massive amount all in one day? I'm in a situation where if the ink runs out, I don't have time to wait. I prefer to go to the store and buy what I need when I need it.  I just want to be able to use the printer without having to sign into everything.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

Part of the way Instant Ink works is that subscribing to the service is OPTIONAL.

What?

You do not need a subscription to Instant Ink to use your printer.

Having said that, I realize the information is too late you help you now.

You can certainly cancel, though there are costs associated with doing so.

Were it mine to do, I might contact Instant Ink Support and explain what happened.

OR

You also have the option to wait here for an Agent to find your post and respond.

What is an Instant Ink Promotion / Trial ?

The offer is generally for a one month or longer trial to HP Instant Ink subscription service.

To get the trial, you must sign up, select a plan, and commit to the print-by-page subscription model.

An HP Instant Ink subscription is a contact for service - ink is included in that service.

The trial is a suspension of the monthly plan costs during the trial period.

The printer must be connected to the Internet (Web Services) during the Trial and for the duration of the contract.  Connection is used by service to monitor plan usage status and by the printer to request ink.

What is "Free Ink"?

There is no extra cost for ink.

Ink is provided as part of your subscription - use a drop or use a cup full, ink is included at no extra cost.

Important

After the initial Ink Kit is mailed out, ink is sent (only) when the printer notifies the service that ink is depleted and a shipment is needed.

  • All ink activated by the plan and all ink sent to you works as along as the trail / subscription service is active.

and

  • Subscription / Instant Ink remains the property of HP and should be returned to HP at close (termination) of the service contract.

Who Benefits?

Instant Ink is an excellent service for those who print regularly, print high-density documents or artwork, or perhaps print lots of homework.  For example, those who benefit the most include Teachers, musicians, writers who like hard copy, large families, small business offices, community centers, churches, and others who love -- or need -- to print on paper.
