Officejet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Officejet 3830. I have already read ,and performed all the steps to resolve the "incompatible" error message. I get the message with a new HP genuine 63 cartridge, a 3rd party 63 cartridge, and even with the empty cartridge that was working fine until removed. So it's clearly a printer issue, not the cartridge. Only the black ink. I have cleaned the connectors with distilled water, and done all the unplug reset procedures recommended by HP about 9 times now. My warranty is expired. Please tell me what I can do to force this printer to accept the proper cartridge. Thank you!

Hi @CapnFord,

I'd like to help!

If you have already performed the steps from the document Ink cartridge errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps!

I look forward to your help. I'm in San Francisco. Correct, no warranty. I've PMd you

It appears the solution is to call the support number. They want me to pay more than my printer costs, to fix it. That's very disappointing. My 16 years as an HP customer will come to an end.

I respect your decision.

As the printer is out of warranty, that could be the reason for a charge.

Have a great day ahead!
