HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer

HP Envy 4520:  I constantly get the message : Incompatible Cartridges The indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer. It's the colour cartridge which IS compatible as I use instant ink. I've tried all of the suggested solutions to no avail,software/firmware are up to date, I've cleaned the contacts and so on.

So I can only surmise that there's a problem with the cartridge chip, it's seems impossible to contact anyone from HP to arrange a replacement.

The document here has information on contacting HP to get replacement Instant Ink cartridges.  Go to the HP Instant Ink site, the phone number (or chat option for some countries) will be listed in the lower center of the opening screen.  Alternately, you can click on the Virtual Assistant.  When the assistant opens type "Where is my ink?" (w/o the quotes).  The system will ask a few questions and then schedule your shipment.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the advice had to phone and they are sending a new cartridge out, hopefully that'll sort the issue if not it'll be a new printer!

I am glad to hear they are sending a new cartridge.  When it arrives please post back here, either to confirm it resolved the issue or to describe the new symptoms.

I suspect the issue will be resolved with the new cartridge, if it is please mark the issue as solved as this may help others with a similar issue find the solution.

Hi Bob, thanks once again, fitted the cartridge which seems to have done the trick. Reminds me of years back when I was an engineer with xerox we went though a period of copy cartridges failing owing to defective on board chips.
