For the last 3 months or so I've been apparently going over my allowed number of pages printed so have been charged extra to my plan. However I don't believe the number of pages recorded by HP HQ is correct! For example for the month just ended it recorded 80 pages printed on my 50 page plan... what I predominately print is postage labels for my online business orders; last month I had 47 orders. It is completely unlikely that I also printed 30 odd other pages. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks

Computers are pretty good at counting, it is very unlikely that the page counts are incorrect. There are a few possibilities:
- The "month" for the Instant Ink program starts on the day you started the subscription, which may be different from the period for your sales accounting.
- If your printer has duplex printing each side of the page will count as a print when printing double sided pages.
- "Copies" also count toward the page usage.
- If the printer is not left turned on and connected to the internet pages may not be counted in the month printed, but at a later time. This should even out in time, as underreported pages in one month would add to the rollover pages and could be used in subsequent months. The printer should always be left turned on, it will automatically go into a low power standby state when not printing.
One thing you could do is set up a spreadsheet to keep track of page usage once per month. Find the IP Address of your printer and enter this in your browser. (You can find the IP address of the printer by touching the antenna symbol near the top of your printer's screen.) This will bring up the printer's web page. Click on Tools, Printer Information which will show the page count.

Hi Bob thanks for your reply. I appreciate that computers are pretty good at counting lol. I do turn my printer off every night (its at my shop), as prefer to not leave anything drawing power / on standby at night, but I will perhaps try to leave it on this month to see if it makes a difference; maybe turning it off every day caused duplicate data sending (unlikely but seeing as nearly twice as many pages as I had post labels printed it must be something). I have checked the printer web page and made a note of the page count, thanks.
Thanks again, Pascale
