It seems you're encountering an issue with your HP DeskJet 3755 printer where the ink cartridge light is flashing for both the yellow (cyan or color) and black cartridges. The fact that your printer works with the old, empty cartridge but doesn't accept the new one suggests that there might be a few issues at play, such as a faulty new cartridge, cartridge recognition issues, or a printer reset problem.

Let's walk through the steps to resolve this issue and get your printer back to working order.

Step 1: Check the Ink Cartridge for Damage or Packaging

First, ensure the new ink cartridge is not defective or improperly installed:

Check the Cartridge: Inspect the new ink cartridge for any visible damage or manufacturing defects. Make sure the protective tape or plastic film has been completely removed from the cartridge. Sometimes, new cartridges have a small piece of protective plastic that needs to be removed before installation.

Ensure Correct Cartridge Type: Double-check that you're using the correct ink cartridge for your printer model (HP 302 or 302XL for most HP DeskJet 3755 printers).

Step 2: Perform a Soft Reset of the Printer

Sometimes, the printer might just need a reset to "clear" out any errors or issues with recognizing new cartridges.

  1. Turn off the Printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer.
  3. Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  4. Plug the power cable back in and turn the printer on.
  5. Try re-inserting the new ink cartridge and check if the printer recognizes it.

Step 3: Reinstall the Ink Cartridges Correctly

Ensure that the new ink cartridges are installed properly:

  1. Open the printer's cartridge access door.
  2. Carefully remove both the black and color cartridges (if applicable).
  3. Reinstall the new cartridge(s) by pressing it gently into the slot until it clicks into place.
  4. Close the access door and check the printer's display panel. The flashing light should stop if the printer successfully detects the new cartridges.
