Hi, at the end of my tether with my 4130e. Hoping I’ve sorted random network issue after hours trying yesterday.  Then had error code saying ink cartridges unstable. Black was low so I’ve changed it. Now both ink level indicators are showing full but flashing. Little envelope with ink drip is also flashing. There is also an exclamation mark next to the 0. I’ve tried removing both cartridges and reinstalling. Powered printer off at cable and restarted. When I print the information page it’s saying the printer isn’t enrolled with instant ink but I’ve checked and it still is. Also the print quality on the information page (which is all I can print) is terrible. Any help gratefully received as desperately need my printer for my work!

Hi @Adrienne1234,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating combination of issues with your HP 4130e printer. Let's tackle them step-by-step to see if we can resolve them.

Ink Cartridge Issue: Since you've already replaced the black ink cartridge and reseated both cartridges, the next steps are to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer. This can help ensure that the printer is able to properly recognize and communicate with the cartridges.

  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the contacts within the cartridge carriage inside the printer.
  • Let them dry for about 10 minutes before reinstalling them.

Ink Level Indicators Flashing: Typically, when ink levels flash despite new cartridges being installed, it suggests a recognition issue. The cleaning step above should help, but if it doesn't, it could indicate a defective cartridge or a deeper issue with the printer's hardware.

Envelope with Ink Drip and Exclamation Mark: This often indicates a problem related to ink delivery or a printer error requiring attention. Since you mentioned print quality issues, this could also suggest a clog in the printhead.

  • Run the printer's built-in cleaning cycle through the printer maintenance settings on the printer's menu or software on your computer. This can help clear clogs in the printhead.

Instant Ink Enrollment: Since the printer is indicating that it's not enrolled in Instant Ink while your account shows it is, this could be a communication error or a glitch in the printer’s firmware.

  • Make sure the printer is connected to the internet.
  • Log in to your HP Instant Ink account to check the status of the printer. Sometimes, removing the printer from your Instant Ink account and adding it again can reset the status.

General Printer Reset: If none of the above steps resolves the issue, consider doing a full reset of the printer. This can be done through the printer's menu under the setup or tools section. Note that this will return the printer to its factory settings and may require you to reconnect to your network and reconfigure your settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
