If you are asking about an Instant Ink subscription,

The plans have always been - and continue to be --
"As needed", that is, when the printer notifies the service that ink should be sent.

 

The caveat is that the printer must remain connected to Web Services (Internet connection).

Without that necessary connection, the printer cannot alert the service when ink is needed.

 

Reminder

If you do not find the information you seek at the Website or at the Instant Ink Support site,

Contact HP Instant Ink Support during regular business hours.
