I work from home in Southern California where the housing is expensive so most residences are 2 stories, as mine is. I am already subscribed to Instant Ink plan at the most expensive monthly plan offered by HP.  Due to the current economic crisis caused by COVID 19 someone I know moved out of their residence and is doubling up with their significant other. That person gifted me their old printer and has cancelled their Instant Ink account. Phone support and Google searching state that I must choose a second plan to add to my Instant Ink account in order to add a printer to my home.

I have zero desire to pay for anything more as I already have roll over pages every month and I’m not interested in monitoring and then rationing how many pages I print out upstairs vs downstairs in my home - all on one router; or in having HP Instant Ink hit my credit card more than one charge per month. Years ago I loved HP and it’s all inclusive support. These days I get a robot or a condescending person on the phone support. The only time I’ve been able to fully resolve any problems with HP support I had to go through my social media account and even then, it took 3 months of constant contact.  Is this setup of selecting 2 plans for 1 account in Instant Ink really the best way to support their customer base given the size of homes these days? For shame HP

@UrBeautifulSoul, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand your concern. However, yes, you will have to select a plan to enroll the second printer. Each printer on the Instant Ink account will have its own plan.

The fee you are paying is for printing a set number of pages from your printer. This cannot be combined with another printer.

For more info on enrolling in Instant Ink, refer to - Enrolling in HP Instant Ink

If you do not wish to pay more or not enroll in Instant Ink, you may use regular HP ink cartridges on the printer you have received as a gift.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
