I have an Instant Ink subscription but don't print a lot - now my black cartridge has stopped printing (but it's still full). I've run through the various head cleaning and other printing improvement tools but to no avail. Is there something else I can do to fix this issue or can I get a replacement cartridge?

@PatrickD67, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Instant Ink Cartridge Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your Instant Ink cartridge is not printing, despite being full, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Ensure Correct Installation:

  • Make sure the cartridge is correctly seated in the printer. Remove and reinstall the cartridge, ensuring it clicks into place.

2. Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Double-check that the cartridge number matches the compatible cartridge specified for your printer model.

3. Run Printer Maintenance Tools:

  • Utilize the built-in printer maintenance tools, such as cartridge cleaning, nozzle check, and alignment tools, to resolve any blockage.

4. Inspect for Printhead Blockage:

  • If the printhead appears clogged (especially with dried ink), manually remove the cartridge, clean the contact points and printhead gently with a lint-free cloth moistened with distilled water.

5. Restart Your Printer:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve issues. Turn off the printer and unplug it for a few minutes before restarting.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
