HP DeskJet Plus 4120 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I un-enrolled from instant ink last payment June. Returned the cartridges and installed new ones. All fine for a bit (although never seemed to print seemlessly but would eventually). Today I try to print andit won't. Get the 'Ink message' icon and when I Print the page get "The printer might not be connected to HP instant Ink anymore." message. Does anyone have any idea why? Printer about to go in the bin!

@charliek72, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It seems like your printer is still attempting to connect to the HP Instant Ink program, despite having unenrolled and replaced the cartridges. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot the issue:

Confirm Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the new cartridges you installed are compatible with your printer and are not Instant Ink cartridges. Instant Ink cartridges stop functioning once you cancel the subscription.

Remove Web Services: If your printer is still attempting to connect to HP Instant Ink, you may need to disable HP Web Services:

  • Access your printer's settings menu through its control panel.
  • Navigate to Web Services Setup and turn off or disable Web Services.

Reset the Printer: Perform a printer reset to clear any lingering settings from the Instant Ink system:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

Reconfigure Network Settings: Reconnect your printer to the network:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network properly.
  • Make sure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date.

Factory Reset: As a last resort, you could perform a factory reset on your printer. This will erase all settings and data. Refer to your printer manual for detailed instructions on performing a factory reset specific to your model.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
