HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e All-in-One Printer

I let me Instant Ink subscription expire.  I purchased my own ink and the printer will not let me print unless I re-enroll in an Instant Ink plan.  Why does HP force you to enroll in a plan that you may not want or need in order to use its products?  What am I missing here???

Hi @JG525,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Instant Ink!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

  1. Use of HP Instant Ink Cartridges:
    • The printer is configured to detect HP Instant Ink cartridges and these cartridges only work if the Instant Ink subscription is active.
  2. Original HP Ink or Toner Use:
    • If you choose not to re-enroll in the Instant Ink service, you must replace Instant Ink cartridges with standard, Original HP cartridges that are not associated with the subscription.

Steps to Use Purchased Ink Cartridges:

  1. Remove Instant Ink Cartridges:
    • Open the printer and remove the Instant Ink cartridges.
  2. Install New Original HP Cartridges:
    • Replace them with standard HP cartridges purchased from a retailer.

Additional Information:

  • HP+ Program: When you enroll in the HP+ program, certain benefits and functionalities are tied to HP's services. This includes cloud-based service features and the use of Instant Ink or other subscription services.
  • Final Enrollment: After the initial trial or subscription period, if you choose not to maintain the subscription, the printer will not recognize Instant Ink cartridges.

I hope this helps.
