Hi, I've just ordered a new printer because my previous one has died and I have a *lot* of things to print this month. I used to have an instant ink subscription but cancelled my plan (I think you'd actually call it a *rage quit*) when my ink ran out at a crucial time, I didn't receive new ink, so I bought some emergency ink (real HP ink) and then discovered it wouldn't work because my instant ink subscription was still active. I've literally just installed new ink in the printer that is now dead, so that is already going to waste, and the new printer comes with a free trial of instant ink, so I'm considering giving it another try. So three questions please - firstly, will the fact that I already had a free trial in the past affect me signing up for this one? Secondly, I know I'm printing a lot this month, but will probably print very little next month - will there be any issue with me signing up for the maximum plan on the free trial, and then dropping down to the lowest part way through? Thirdly, if I find this still doesn't work for me, is there a way to return the opened subscription ink once it is disabled and becomes useless, so that it can be recycled and not go to waste? Thank you.

Hi @AliH555,

I understand your frustration, and I'll do my best to provide guidance on your questions.
-
Free Trial Eligibility: The eligibility for a new free trial often depends on the terms and conditions set by the service provider, in this case, HP Instant Ink. Usually, a free trial is offered to new customers. If you've had a free trial in the past, there's a chance you might not be eligible for another one. However, policies can change.
-
Changing Plans Midway: Generally, you can change your plan at any time during your subscription with HP Instant Ink. If you anticipate a significant change in your printing needs, you can adjust your plan accordingly. Keep in mind that if you're on a free trial, there might be specific conditions outlined in the terms of service regarding plan changes during the trial period.
-
Returning Unused Subscription Ink: HP Instant Ink cartridges are typically tied to your subscription, and they are designed to be disabled once your subscription ends or is canceled. Unfortunately, once the cartridges are disabled, they may not be reactivated. Regarding returns and recycling, HP often provides information on their website about how to recycle used ink cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
