HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer

We rarely print but signed up for Instant Ink a couple of years ago when we got the printer. I received a pack of ink at that point but never since  although I pay monthly. The cartridges have now run out but the printer/app doesn't seem to recognise it. They still say that the levels are fine. I can't find a way to order ink cartridges.

Hi @Hels10,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2710e printer and its Instant Ink service. If your printer's ink levels are low, but it's not recognizing the issue or automatically ordering replacement ink cartridges, there could be a few reasons for this.

Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue.

  1. Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the internet. Without a stable internet connection, your printer won't be able to communicate with the Instant Ink service to order new cartridges.

  2. Verify Your Instant Ink Account: Make sure that your Instant Ink account is active and in good standing. You should be able to log in to your Instant Ink account online or through the HP Smart app to check your subscription status. If your subscription has expired or there's an issue with your payment, that could be the reason why you haven't received new cartridges.

  3. Manually Order Ink Cartridges: If your printer's automatic order feature isn't working, you can manually order ink cartridges through your Instant Ink account online or through the HP Smart app. Look for an option to "Order Cartridges" or something similar. Select the appropriate ink cartridges for your printer model and confirm the order.

  4. Check Printer Software Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware and software are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated software can lead to issues with communication. You can check for updates through the printer's control panel or HP's official website.

Remember that the Instant Ink service is designed to monitor your ink usage and automatically send replacement cartridges before you run out.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Alden4

Thanks for replying. My printer appears to be connected to the internet. The HP Smart app tells me that it is "ready" and when I try to print, the job is being sent through to the printer. However, when I use the i button directly from the printer I've got just enough ink left to see it says "This printer is not connected to the internet". I think there are instructions below that text explaining how to fix this but I am unable to read them as the ink levels are too low. Do you know how I can fix this?
