Tried to update my instant ink payment method since I missed a payment, and when I tried updating my payment method I was sent into a loop of: clicking "update payment method", brought to a screen that says connect my printer to instant ink, which it already is, and then it sends me back to the screen that tells me to update my payment method, not allowing me to finalize my payment.

Hi @Lewis1231

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand you are  stuck in a loop while trying to update your Instant Ink payment method. To help identify the cause, could you please confirm whether you're accessing your Instant Ink account through a web browser or the HP App? Also, let me know if you've tried signing in using a different browser or an Incognito/InPrivate window, and whether the issue occurs there as well.

Verify the Printer is Connected to Instant Ink

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the internet.
  2. On the printer control panel, verify that it shows a network connection.
  3. Print a Network Configuration Report (if supported) to confirm the printer is online.
  4. Open the HP Smart app and ensure the printer shows an Online status.

Try a Different Browser or Private Window

  1. Open a different web browser (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).
  2. Alternatively, open an Incognito/InPrivate window.
  3. Sign in to your HP Instant Ink account.
  4. Attempt to update your payment method again.

Remove and Re-add the Payment Method

  1. Go to your HP Instant Ink Account.
  2. Navigate to Billing or Payment Methods.
  3. If possible, remove the existing payment method.
  4. Add a new payment method or re-enter the same card details.
  5. Save the changes.

Verify the Payment Method

Ensure that:

  • The card has not expired.
  • Billing information matches your bank records.
  • The card supports online and recurring transactions.
  • Your bank has not declined the transaction.

Take care and have an amazing day!
