Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Instant Ink. Check out this link: HP INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER. .

When I bought a new printer I signed up for instant ink. A year later realized i was losing money on the deal so I cancelled. Then they told me I had to return their cartridges   If I continued to use them they would disable my printer. So , then i asked for an envelope to return them where I found a whole spiel about saving the planet and don’t return partially used cartridges. That’s what I’m doing!  The question is:  why can’t use them till they’re empty?  I probably paid more for them than I would have if I’d paid retail.  My next printer will be anything but an HP.

Sorry the Instant Ink program is not to your liking.   When you sign up for the Instant Ink program you are NOT purchasing ink, you are purchasing a subscription to a set number of pages per month.  The ink is supplied, but remains the property of HP and must be returned if you cancel the program in accordance with the terms of service.  See sections 5.d and 9.c of the terms of service here.  When your Instant Ink subscription ends the printer will no longer allow printing with Instant Ink cartridges, they will need to be replaced with retail cartridges as described in the terms of service.
