I have a printer and I’ve signed up for ink on subscription. First question is it hasn’t shown the printing I’ve done so far and secondly will I only receive ink if I print the 50 pages? I don’t use it all the time , sporadically really .

Hi @Julie37blueblue,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out, and I’ll be happy to clarify how your HP Instant Ink subscription works.

1. Printed pages not showing yet
It can take some time for your recent printing activity to appear in your Instant Ink account.
Your printer reports usage to the HP cloud automatically, but this update may be delayed if:

  • The printer wasn’t connected to Wi-Fi at the time of printing
  • The printer went into sleep mode
  • The Instant Ink servers haven’t synced yet

Once the printer reconnects to the internet, the page count should update within a few hours to 24 hours.

If it still doesn’t appear after that, I can help you run a quick connection check.

2. Ink shipments and page allotment
With Instant Ink, you do not need to print your full monthly page allowance (such as 50 pages) to receive ink.

Here’s how it actually works:

  • Instant Ink monitors your ink levels, not your usage frequency
  • HP automatically ships ink before you run low, regardless of how many pages you’ve printed
  • You’re billed on your monthly plan, not per cartridge
  • Any unused pages roll over (up to the rollover limit for your plan)

So even if you print only occasionally, you will always receive ink in time; you don’t have to “use up” your pages to trigger a shipment.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
