My HP Envy 5000 series printer is showing the following message: Instantink problem Cannot print visit HP Instantink for information. This then tells me that there is a problem with my payment method. I am not enrolled in Instant Ink, have never used it nor entered any payment details. I have unplugged, switched off, diagnosed and fixed everything but the message won't clear and I still cannot print.

Hi @Nannette13,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.

Since you mentioned that, you never enrolled in the instant ink program or used it correct?  Was this printer used by someone else or did you buy it from someone?

Kindly check what type of cartridges are installed. Does it say instant ink on it or HP cartridges? Kindly share the images of the cartridges you are using.

Meanwhile, follow the steps mentioned below.

Perform a power reset on the printer.

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Also, try updating the firmware for your printer. Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
