HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer is registered under my daughter's account.  She quit using the printer because it quit printing black ink.  She is a school teacher and because of the Covid virus, she now needs to teach from home and needs the printer.  I have taken the printer to my house to try to fix it for her.  Since she hadn't used it for some time because it didn't print black, she dropped the instant ink program.  Why pay for it when it wouldn't print??  I have seen several ways to try to fix it but can't because when I try to re-enroll the printer in the instant ink program is says the printer is enrolled under a different account.  Of course this is correct.  The printer gives me a constant error: "Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP instant ink program".   I am willing to enroll it in my name and pay for the cartridges. and have tried and tried. but it worn't let me.  Trying to call HP to talk to them is a joke.  I have waited and waited.  I have also tried the "virtual help"  which is equally helpless.  I have spent way too much time on this and if there is anyone out there that can help me I would truly appreciate it.  Thanks,   5/04/2020

@Frustratedalot2, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps below-

Press the HP ePrint icon on your control panel display and select Remove Web Services. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove Web Services, press the HP ePrint icon again, and then follow the prompts to re-enable Web Services. A new Printer Info Page titled "Congratulations" prints with a new claim code. Try to claim the printer again using the new claim code.

This document HP Printers - Having Trouble Claiming Your Printer? should help you resolve the issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
