My instant ink cat ridge is not communicating with my printer hp envy 7800. The black ink works but the tricolor doesn’t.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Instant Ink cartridge! 

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.  

  

If your HP ENVY 7800 printer's Instant Ink cartridges are not functioning properly, especially if the black ink is working but the tricolor ink is not, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

 

Turn on the Printer: Ensure that your printer is properly powered on and connected.

Load Paper: Load plain white paper into the input tray.

Open the Ink Cartridge Access Door: Open the ink cartridge access door and wait until the carriage is idle and silent before proceeding.

Remove the Tricolor Ink Cartridge: Lightly press down on the tricolor ink cartridge to release it, and then pull the ink cartridge out of its slot.

Inspect the Cartridge: Check the tricolor ink cartridge for any damage or debris. Make sure you only touch the black plastic parts and avoid touching the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles.

Reinsert the Cartridge: Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the contacts toward the printer, insert it into its slot, and gently push until it snaps into place. Make sure to install the color ink cartridge on the left and the black ink cartridge on the right.

Close the Ink Cartridge Access Door: Close the door and wait for the printer to initialize. It may make some noises during this process.

Print an Alignment Page: After the initialization process, the printer should print an alignment page. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
