I just researched the question- why doesn't the 67/305 cartridge that was sent for my Deskjet 2723e and found that a number of people had the same issue. I've done everything correctly but the cartridge is too big for the printer and the door will not shut once I have installed the cartridge!!
Very frustrating, as I need to print some important items!

Check the Cartridge Compatibility: First, ensure that the cartridge model (67/305) is actually compatible with your printer model. Although you mentioned this is what was sent, sometimes there are packaging or distribution errors. You can verify this on HP's official website or in the printer's manual.
If the cartridge does not fit, It must be an issue with the toner compatibility. Unfortunately, there are no further actions we can take through this channel. I recommend reaching out to our phone support for further assistance.
They can help you with the unit repair or part replacement.
I request you talk to HP Phone Support and they will help you to sort it out as it requires replacement.
1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en
2. Select the country.
3. Enter the serial number of your device.
4. Select the country from the drop-down.
5. Click on "Show Options".
6. Fill out the web form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
