My printer stopped printing. Said, A problem has occurred with your HP account and you will be unable to print until the issue is resoled. I am signed up to the Instant ink thing that charges me  and am charged $7.45 a month...and my credit card number was stolen a couple of weeks ago.  And I haven't figured out how to give Instant Ink my new number. Could that stop my printer from printing?  Or is there something else I need to do?

Hi @Kagey666,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Yes, your printer has likely stopped printing because your Instant Ink subscription could not be billed due to the stolen credit card. When HP Instant Ink cannot process a payment, it may temporarily suspend printing services until the issue is resolved, even if there is ink remaining in the cartridges.

Here’s what you should do:

Step 1: Update Your Payment Method

You need to update your credit card information in your HP Instant Ink account.

  1. Go to: HP Instant Ink – Ink Monthly Subscription | HP Official Site.
  2. Sign in with your HP account (the one linked to your printer).
  3. Click on Account (top right corner).
  4. Select Billing Information.
  5. Click Edit Payment Method and enter your new card details.
  6. Save your changes.

📝 Once your payment info is updated, HP should automatically retry the failed charge and reactivate your service. It may take a few minutes to an hour to resume printing.

Step 2: Restart the Printer

After updating the payment method:

  • Turn off the printer, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Try printing a test page.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
