Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Instant Ink. Check out this link: HP INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER. .

I have a blue constant light on the printer, I have turned it on and off at the wall and router and it still won’t connect. The connectivity is good on the computer and on phone to connect it, I have done everything the bit has asked. No hardware updates needed and it still won’t connect. I have taken cartridges out and put them back in! I need more ink but I can’t get it sent out as it doesn’t recognise I need it either. Very frustrating as I need it for work

Hi @UnicornRes,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can feel how stressful this must be, especially when you rely on Instant Ink for work and the printer just won’t cooperate despite everything looking fine. Let’s get this sorted together.

The constant blue light means your printer is connected to Wi-Fi, so the issue is likely with the Instant Ink service connection rather than the network itself. Here’s what you can do:

Step 1: Check Web Services

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to:
Setup > Web Services > Settings
  • Make sure Web Services is enabled. If it’s off, turn it on.
  • If it’s already on, disable and re-enable Web Services to refresh the connection.

Step 2: Print the Web Services Info Page

  • This will show if the printer is properly registered with HP’s servers.
  • If you see an error or no email address, the printer isn’t linked to Instant Ink yet.

Step 3: Reconnect to HP Account

  • Open the HP app on your phone or computer.
  • Sign in to your HP account and check if the printer shows as Connected to Instant Ink.
  • If not, remove the printer and add it again using the app.

Step 4: Check Firmware

  • Even if the printer says “No updates,” manually verify by visiting:
    👉 Official HP® Support
  • Enter your printer model and confirm the latest firmware is installed.

Step 5: Restart Everything in Order

  • Power off the printer, router, and computer.
  • Turn on the router first, and wait 2 minutes.
  • Turn on the printer, then the computer.
  • This refreshes the network handshake.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
