I am a teacher who works at a public school. The WiFi that teachers use for personal devices requires you to sign in every time (like when you go to a hotel and have to login using credentials). This sign-in is not given as an option when connecting to a printer. I would like to find an Inkjet printer that can be connected via Ethernet to our network and allow Instant Ink to still function.

My current printer has no Ethernet port. I have to bring it home after Instant Ink blocks printing, connect to the internet at home, and bring it back to school until it is blocked again and i must repeat the process. It is maddening.

Hi,

You will find an ethernet port on select Officejet Pro or Envy Photo printers supporting Instant Ink and currently available in markets, here is a list of applicable models with an ethernet port:

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 Series
  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 Series
  • HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Series
  • HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 Series
  • HP ENVY Photo 7850 Series
  • HP ENVY Photo 7860 Series

I would also suggest making sure that as a public network, to check with the IT Managers of the school network, that internet connectivity with HP Instant Ink servers is not blocked in such a network environment, so you won't find yourself replacing the printer and then being unable to use it due to network policies of the network school.
